A Skincare Cocktail: Can We Mix Skincare Products?
Unlike your go-to cosmo martini, is it okay to mix your favorite skincare ingredients to make a cocktail of your own? Whether it’s your time-tested moisturizer with a power-punch serum, or a signature Environ overnight mask + hydrating oil capsule combination, it is appropriate, sometimes, to combine certain products for amazing results.

Why Should We Mix Skincare Products?
Mixing (also known as cocktailing) products together is something I regularly do in studio treatments and in my personal home routine, and I encourage my clients to do the same. Mixing can shorten routines and enhance results and you can cocktail throughout your regimen.
Which Skincare Products Can I Mix?
When cleansing, which is the first step in your routine, try combining different cleansers for a deeper clean or to address your skin’s specific condition. I like to mix Environ’s Pre Cleansing Oil with their Clay Masque. The oil acts as a desincrustant, softening any dehydrated patches and the clay is purifying and pulls what the oil softens off the skin.
My favorite products to mix are serums. Serums address specific skin conditions, and we can have several conditions that need to be treated, so when you combine serums, you can treat multiple conditions at once.
Some of my favorite serum cocktails include–
- AVST and Mela Boost
- Youth Essentia, Defence Creme and Retinol
Dispense 1-2 drops of each serum into the palm, rub them together to activate the ingredients, and use the press and release technique to apply to the face, neck and décolleté.
Masking is another great step in your routine to combine products.
- Post evening application of skin care products, Apply 1-2 pumps of Revival Masque over face, neck, and decollete and layer one hydrating oil capsule. There is a reason it’s called “facelift in a jar”
Combining a few drops of serum or oil into foundation creates a lighter more natural finish with the added benefits of the serum or oil. My favorite combo is The C+ Serum with Cle de Peau’s Radiant Fluid Foundation.
For your body, after bathing, try using Environ’s Derma-Lac Lotion (hydrating) mixed with Vitamin A,C,E Body Oil Forte (lifting and firming)
What Should You Avoid When Mixing Products?
Before you begin mixing products, I strongly recommend speaking to a professional as it is important to understand your skin’s particular needs as well as the ingredients that are best to use to treat it. You should also avoid mixing aromatherapy products or essential oils as they contain actives, and mixing them with other products can overstimulate the skin.
