New to Environ

Environ’s core philosophy is working with skin science to promote great-looking skin from the inside out. Key ingredients are Vitamin A, C, E, antioxidants, peptides and growth factors. Targeted treatments include special ingredients that may exfoliate the skin, brighten and tighten or moisturize the skin. Let’s dive deeper into each of these key, well-researched and strategically utilized Environ-core ingredients.

Start Low + Go Slow

Since before 1911, Vitamin A has been tried and tested as an essential component to maintaining healthy-looking, normalized skin. Fast forward to 1947, this was the year Vitamin A was first successfully manufactured in a laboratory for targeted use. Soon after this, a Professor Culver discovered Vitamin A molecules in the body are continuously depleted by light and air in the skin and blood every day. This makes sense, as the appearance of the skin tends to change over time, in correspondence with exposure to sun and the elements. It was established that Vitamin A a very important element that needs to be replenished in the body and skin in order to keep the skin looking youthful.

Types of Vitamin A: Retinoic Acid Vs. Retinyl Palmitate

There are multiple forms of Vitamin A that one may find in their skin care products and are available for topic use. One of the more well-known forms in retinoic acid, which is available only in prescription form. There are, however, more mild forms that are much more gentle for the skin to tolerate and are just as effective.

In 1955, retinyl palmitate was the first form of Vitamin A scientifically proven to be effective in rejuvenating the look of mature skin aging. People were discouraged by how long the effects took (months versus days), so popularity didn’t take off like it did for the acid-form of Vitamin A. Retinoic acid Vitamin A yields quicker results but also harsh side effects like dryness, redness, increased sensitivity and more.

Environ’s founder, Dr. Des Fernandes saw the potential to gently and gradually help his client’s skin care management by using the more gentle form- retinyl palmitate, seeing no benefit to abuse the skin with a harsh form in order to yield faster results. By gradually introducing low and slowly increasing levels of retinyl palmitate vitamin A in to the skin, one is able to gain benefits without any unwanted side effects commonly associated with the prescription acid-based form. Environ places an importance on combining Vitamin A ingredients along with other essentials like Vitamin C + E, antioxidants, peptides and growth factors.

The Retinoid Reaction

A retinoid reaction is something that can occur when too much Vitamin A is introduced to the skin at once. Potential symptoms include transient flaking, pink skin, inflammation and mild breakouts. Some reactions may be worse in some people than others, depending on the individual’s skin tolerance to Vitamin A and to the number of Vitamin A receptors they have available. The whole philosophy of “start low and go slow” is based on the knowledge that the skin needs to slowly build receptors in order to “accept” the Vitamin A without an adverse reaction. This is the foundation of Environ’s “step-up” systems, gradually increasing Vitamin A doses in each level. Your local skin care expert will advise you which level to start with and what frequency to increase to over time.

Reducing Reactions

Using the “start low + go slow” philosophy, you will find the Environ skin care system will work wonders for you. No matter who the client is, it is best to gradually introduce Vitamin A in to the skin to get the best, long-term, lasting benefits, sans the unsightly reactions!

Other Hints + Tips

Environ is passionate about utilizing Vitamin A, but there are other well-known ingredients Environ products use to create balanced, healthy-looking skin as part of a whole skin care system. The various hydrating cleansers, tongers and intensive targeted products are part of the package deal. Especially if one has specific problems like problematic skin, sensitive skin, dry skin or someone who has a specific skin condition, there are gentle products available to soothe and care for the skin alongside the Vitamin-A moisturizers.

Does Age Matter?

We know that skin care is not one-size-fits-all. Environ products are widely varied and thus highly customizable. Environ products were designed to benefit any skin type, age, and need. Environ products are designed for professional use and with guidance from a local expert, you can create the unique system for years and decades to come.

Behind the Scenes

In addition to the power-packed ingredients, the way Environ products are made also makes a difference. Environ’s standards in manufacturing, packaging and how the ingredients are combined strategically is why clients acknowledge the quality above others.
